About Hair Loss
Male pattern baldness (androgenetic alopecia) is the most common cause of hair loss in men in the UK. It can begin as early as the early 20s and becomes more common with age.
Hair loss can also occur for other reasons, such as autoimmune conditions (for example alopecia areata) or as a result of medical treatments like chemotherapy.
Please note that online treatment options are mainly suitable for male pattern hair loss.

Minoxidil (topical treatment)
Minoxidil is a pharmacy-only medicine available as a solution or foam. It can be used by both men and women.
Applied directly to the scalp
Available in different strengths and formulations
Results vary between individuals
Finasteride (1mg tablets)
Finasteride is a prescription-only medicine used to treat male pattern hair loss. It works by reducing levels of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone linked to hair thinning.
Taken once daily
Available in one strength (1mg)
Suitable for adult men only
Ongoing use is required to maintain effect
