Causes
- Blocked follicles: Acne starts when dead skin cells and oil (sebum) clog hair follicles.

- Bacteria: A type of skin bacterium called P. acnes can become more aggressive in the oily, clogged follicle, leading to inflammation and pus.

Symptoms
- Blackheads and whiteheads: These are non-inflammatory clogged pores.
- Pimples: Inflammatory bumps that can be red and pus-filled.
- Nodules and cysts: More severe, painful, solid lumps that form deeper under the skin.
- Oily skin: The condition can make the skin look and feel oily.
- Scarring: More severe acne can leave permanent scars or changes in skin colour.
